465 Small Carpenter’s
Axe
£53.00This axe has a straight edge and thin blade with low angle of the bevel face, suited for work in dry wood. The forged inward curve from the heel to the lip of the head permits your hand to grip almost straight above the center of the edge. This, and the long straight cutting edge, gives rigidity, stability, and control when cutting. Functions like a good heavy knife. The axe poll is ground and can be used as a hammer. Length 46cm Weight 900g The axe is provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener. |

475 Large Swedish Carving
Axe
£69.00A chop axe for hewing bowls and other wooden objects, artistic wood carving and architectural work. The characteristic curved shape of the cutting edge, carried well above the head's eye, the position of the edge in proportion to he handle, the rather thick bit and the big angle of the wide beveled face makes this axe a good carving tool. You "cut on the beveled face" with curved movements. This new axe pattern, based on old Swedish carving techniques, was developed by Wille Sundqvist, master craftsman and author of "Swedish Carving Techniques" in cooperation with craftman adviser Onni Linnanheimo. The handle is "rugged" to give a good grip. Length 37cm Weight 1.Kg The axe is provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener. |

Broad Axe Angled
£136.00You’re probably most familiar with traditional Right-Hand and Left-Hand Axes, which are used on their respective sides of the log. These axes’ heads are both bent and twisted at the forge, and they are bevelled like a chisel on one side only. This lets the axe’s eye and handle stand clear of the timber while the user employs a straight, easy swing to let the flat face of the axe shave the surface like a huge plane. The axe heads weigh 1.7Kg, and are 17cm wide. 50cm textured hickory handles allow short, controlled swings for accurate work. The axe is fitted with a tight-grained hickory handle. The axe is provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener. |
|
483 1800 Swedish Broad Axe£203.00Broad axes have evolved to meet the needs of builders who create straight, square timbers from logs. More challenging to use than right-hand or left-hand broad axes, but considerable more versatile, is the straight broad axe 484 The blade is in line with the eye, and the edge is bevelled on both sides like a regular axe. It can be used to hew either side of a timber or its horizontal surface, too. On straight-grained wood it leaves surfaces nearly as clean as a right-hand or left-hand axe. Like those, this axe has a 1.8Kg. head with 18cm face and 50cm handle. The axe is fitted with a tight-grained hickory handle.
The axe is provided with a grain-leather sheath with snap fastener. |
